The Ecobeach drainage system has been tested worldwide. There are links to several projects on this page. More information on the different pilot projects can be found at these subpages. The system originates in Denmark and has been applied mid 90's. After this pilot project, experiments have been conducted in Africa, Asia, Australia and the Netherlands.

Hillsboro Beach, Florida, USA

A large increase of sand volumes was measured in the Ecobeach test area.

Egmond aan Zee, Netherlands

This was the first installed drainage system at a Dutch beach.

Hvide Sande, Denmark

The mean diameter of the sediment within the Ecobeach sections was significantly larger than within the reference areas.

Since 3 to 4 months after the installation of the Ecobeach system, the beach nourishment has been kept almost completely stable.

The beach width of the island increased with several meters in the first two months of the project and has been stable since.

A historic church at Maarup, Denmark was endangered by the erosion of the nearby coast.

Accra beach, Ghana

The installation of the Ecobeach system resulted in a remarkable increase of the beach width within 1 year after the installation of the system.

Lønstrup, Denmark

The groynes were covered with sand due to widening of the beach within 4 months after the installation of the Ecobeach system.

Old Skagen south, Denmark

The installation of the Ecobeach system resulted in a significant increase of sand volume on the beach during the first six months after the installation.

Old Skagen north, Denmark

The installation of Ecobeach at this location resulted in an increase of the beach width and extended beyond the head of the groynes.
